Solar Panel Setup...Cheap

Cheap and Easy Solar Panel Setup

Going green with a solar panel set up need not be expensive. You can buy solar panel kits that have everything you need in them that right from the box is ready to go.

The solar panel kit from Harbor Freight Tool is an example of that. The kit sells for regularly for $230.00, but you can often find their sale ad price of $140.00.  This kit has three 15watt panels that go to a voltage regulator box. The three panels have a combined output of 45watts. A 12 volt battery is attached to the voltage regulator.

The Voltage regulator channels a charging voltage to the battery from the panels as well as having receptacles for different DC voltages. You have a choice of 3, 5, 6,  9 and 12 volt outputs. Most of today’s DC electronics use one of these voltages. The kit also comes with two 12 volt light bulbs with cords and some common connectors. It is a good quick and easy and cheap way to get a solar charging system. Just add a battery.

I use a set up like this to keep my trolling motor charged and ready to go.
