Poison Ivy…I do not love it!
If you think you have brushed up against poison Ivy, try
these to prevent a bad rash. The active ingredient in poison ivy that causes
the rash is urushiol. Rubbing alcohol is a good solvent for urushiol.
Splash the affected area of skin with rubbing alcohol.
Follow the alcohol with lots of water. If you do not have alcohol use lots of
water.
Wash your clothes to get rid of any urushiol on them. Use
paint thinner to remove urushiol from golf clubs, shovels, and hand tools.
If you do get a rash there are good over the counter topical
creams that help dry up the rash. Preventing the rash is easier than clearing
up the rash.
