Salt tip 4...Salt use around the yard

Salt tip 4
Salt has many uses around the yard. You can put salt on the plants that grow between the patio bricks or cracks in your sidewalk and it will kill the plants and prevent more from growing. It is also a good nontoxic herbicide to kill poison ivy. Mix 3 lbs. of salt with 1 gallon of soapy water and apply to the leaves and stem with a sprayer. This mix will kill most any plant you do not want.

Salt can also alleviate the pain and swelling of a beestings. If you wet the area immediately and cover with salt, the salt pulls the venom out and relieves the pain.

Soaking mosquito and chigger bites with salt water is also supposed to alleviate the itching and irritation.
If you shake salt directly onto a leech that has attached itself to you, it will cause the leach to shrivel up and fall off. It may take a few minutes.
